From Fence-Tossed to Family Treasure: Baby Tori Becomes Billie

With a perfect head tilt, soulful eyes, and a camera ready face that melted hearts daily, Baby Tori may have been our most photogenic pup to date. But behind those adorable photos was a heartbreaking beginning: she came into our care weighing just 1.4kg, after being cruelly thrown over a fence into a stranger’s property.

Tiny, fragile, and in desperate need of love, Tori found herself in the best hands possible our trusted foster mum Lisa. When a baby needs nurturing, warmth, and gentle care, Lisa is our go-to, and once again, she worked her magic. With every cuddle, nutritious meal, and soothing word, Tori blossomed.

And the world noticed.

Interest in our wee poppet came flooding in. She stole hearts left, right, and centre. But it was clear where her next stop was meant to be Christchurch, into the loving arms of the Baxter family.

Tori’s final foster, Monica, took over the handover leg of her journey (though we suspect the real plan was a family takeover). Monica’s sister Pip predicted it: “You’re going to foster fail.” And fail she did in the best possible way.

Now officially Billie, this little star has found her forever in the Baxter home. With her big doggo brother Mac as her protector and playmate, and a family who adores every smooch, tilt, and cuddle Billie’s living her best life.
