We at W.A.G.S Rescue NZ are working to make our site accessible to people with disabilities.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

At W.A.G.S Rescue NZ, we are committed to making our website accessible and user-friendly for everyone, including people with disabilities. We have designed our site with accessibility best practices in mind and implemented features to enhance usability for all visitors.

 

We have taken the following steps on our Wix website to support accessibility:

  • Used Wix’s Accessibility Wizard to identify and fix potential accessibility issues.

  • Set the language of the website to English (NZ) for screen readers.

  • Structured pages with clear and consistent headings to support keyboard navigation and assistive technologies.

  • Added descriptive alternative text to images so that they are accessible to screen readers.

  • Ensured colour contrasts meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards for readability.

  • Minimized the use of motion and animations to reduce distractions and support visitors with sensitivities.

  • Made sure that videos, audio, and downloadable files are accessible where possible, including adding captions or transcripts when needed.
